A particularly attractive Douvilleiceras displaying the genus’s characteristic heavy ribbing and prominent rounded tubercles. The shell has a wonderfully sculptural quality, with strongly developed ornamentation continuing around the outer whorl and into the preserved body chamber.
Especially appealing is the specimen’s varied natural coloration, ranging from warm cream and caramel tones to dark brown and black, together with areas of lustrous preserved shell. The contrasting colors emphasize the ribs and tubercles and give the fossil considerable visual depth.
The specimen also retains an unusually dynamic, three-dimensional form, with the projecting ornamentation around the aperture creating an especially dramatic silhouette. An excellent display specimen combining strong preservation, distinctive morphology, and considerable aesthetic character.
