An exceptionally attractive Crotalocephalus displaying strong three-dimensional relief and very fine preparation. The dark exoskeleton stands in dramatic contrast to the pale limestone matrix, with the deeply defined thoracic segments and elongated lateral spines giving the fossil considerable texture and depth. Particularly appealing is the specimen’s natural-looking posture: the body rises above the surrounding matrix in such a way that the trilobite appears almost to be crawling over the surface of a rock. The combination of excellent preparation, pronounced relief, and this unusually lifelike presentation makes it a particularly engaging display specimen.
